Maret Sarapu (b. 1978) is a glass artist whose practice is largely guided by everyday life, while exploring the possibilities and beauty of the material. Sarapu is interested in patterns and repetition, as well as their transformation and disruption. In her recent work, she has also turned to automatic writing and listening to the stream of consciousness. Sarapu graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts in glass art (BA, 2002; MA, 2005) and has furthered her studies through professional courses and residencies in Estonia and abroad. Her works are included in the collections of the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design, the American Museum of Glass, the Museum of Modern Glass Art in Turkey, among others.
